The Salish Sea Research Center Raises awareness about environment issues through community outreach and STEM activities. Outreach is centered on marine science connects with the research conducted at the lab.

Invertebrate Touch Tank
Students explore and discover a variety of species found on the beaches of La Push, WA.
Ocean Acidification Lab
Students learn about pH, Acidity, and Alkalinity using Bromothymol Blue.
Lummi Nation School
Students explore the beaches on the Lummi Reservation.
DIY ROV
Remotely Operated Vehicles are built from PVC pipe, electric motor propellers, and various objects to help buoyancy.
DIY Plankton Net
NWIC Science Day Academy builds plankton nets to capture and identify plankton under microscopes.
Invertebrate Identification
Using identification cards, students embark on a place-based science activity to identify various marine species.
